What is The Inclusion Project?

The Inclusion Project is a new AFA member and multi-award winning initiative that promotes a healthy, social and active lifestyle for adults with learning disabilities including, but not limited to, ADHD, Asperger and Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Epilepsy, Fragile X, Global Development Delay and more. The aim of the project is for participants to feel valued and included within the local community.

The initiative was officially founded by Simon Jackson-Turner in January 2016 and, unofficially, many years prior to that. In that small space of time, they have supported over six hundred people with learning disabilities in nine counties in the South of England and become a member of the British Franchise Association, as well as the Approved Franchise Association. The Inclusion Project franchise is registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission, and currently has fifteen profitable franchisees.

Their vision is to offer an excellent level of care and community inclusion and become the default level of care available to people with learning disabilities. The Inclusion Project runs seven days per week, covering various activities on different days and evenings. Participants can select which days they attend, and can take part in one, more than one or all seven days. Sessions are group based, with a ration of up to four participants to one group leader, unless participants require more individual attention. They also offer The Inclusion Project At Home, which has a one-to-one staff to participant ratio.

The project is funded through direct payments that are allocated to people with learning disabilities by their social workers. Charges are in line with the standard, hourly rate in the local area and costs can also be privately funded.
